Tournament Information
Rules
-
Must have a verified MSR run on Speedrun.com before the end of signups.
-
Players must stream races on twitch.tv.
-
Make sure you have VoD storage enabled on Twitch. If you do not or are not sure, visit link.twitch.tv/myStreamSettings and enable “Store past broadcasts” and “Always Publish VODs”.
-
If you have no recording of your race, you may get declared as DNF (Did Not Finish) due to organizers not being able to verify your time.
-
This tournament will be v1.0-v1.7 focused
-
If you are on v1.9, you will still be allowed to participate, just understand you will be at a disadvantage
-
If there is enough interest in a v1.9 of this tournament, we will host one in the future.
-
Whether Amiibo use is allowed will be decided on a match by match basis. In general, runners are free to use Amiibo. However, if one runner does not agree with their opponent using Amiibo, then the race will follow no-Amiibo rules.
Tournament Hosted on “Hyrule Town Hall” (HTH)
Hyrule Town Hall is a tournament hosting platform hosted by @TreZc0 and ZeldaSpeedruns that automates creating matches, scheduling races, and organizing volunteer signups while also hosting the schedule and brackets, and providing discord and racetime integrations. You may see new or revamped channels in the Tournaments section of the BOTW discord that integrate with HTH.
-
Players must sign up to HTH with their discord, racetime.gg, and twitch account.
-
If you do not already have one, please create a racetime.gg account and make sure to connect your twitch account in your racetime account settings. HTH uses racetime for all races.
-
To sign up, please enter your information on the HTH Sign Up Page
Tournament Organization
-
Tournament Organizers: Staff (Feel free to reach out to us if you would like to help out!)
-
Bracket placement will be based on your SRC ranking, no Qualifiers will be held.
-
Once in a bracket you will be randomly paired up with an opponent who has the same score as you.
-
This will be a Swiss Style tournament, meaning players will each play the same number of games.
-
Each bracket will only have 8 players and each week we will go through one round. The player who ends up with a score of 3-0 at the end will win that bracket.
-
This in turn means that the tournament will only last 3 weeks.
-
Bracket pairings will be released at the beginning of each week. Players will be expected to coordinate with the opponent they are paired against to schedule for a live race during that week.
-
A Thread will automatically be created for you and your opponent to schedule your races. Please discuss a time you would like to race and once you both agree on a time, use the /schedule command to schedule your race.
-
In case coordinating this race within the week is not possible, please reach out to tournament organizers and we may facilitate conducting the race in an async fashion instead.
-
If there is an overflow of players, the final bracket may be conducted in a round robin style.
-
All matches will be a Best of 1: This tournament is meant to be a more of a casual experience with the goal of reducing burnout risks for both racers and organizers, in order to allow multiple iterations of this tournament to be conducted each year.
-
Very close matches will be retimed from New Game to decide a winner.
-
On the off chance that the race is an official tie to the frame, runners will participate in a Blessing Shrine IL race to determine the winner.
Match Information
-
Please schedule a race using the discord thread created for you and your opponent in the scheduling channel.
-
Please sign up for commentary using the Volunteer channel in the discord.
-
Important: Volunteers must apply and receive their volunteering roles through the HTH website.
-
Races are posted in Discord in advance, in both a volunteering channel post and in discord events.
-
Signups through website or Discord (#volunteering-and-restreaming)
-
If you do not show up to the scheduled race 15 minutes after the start time, you may be disqualified from that race. We will ask your opponent in the race room if they would like to reschedule or take the win. In the case of rescheduling, you must reschedule for a match within 48 hours of the previously scheduled match.
-
In the case the match cannot be scheduled in the 48 hour window, the racer that missed the start of the first race will get a DNF
-
In the case of an emergency (power outage, game crash, computer failure or any sort of serious technical difficulty that is out of your control):
-
If the race is currently on plateau, the race will be restarted or rescheduled to a later date.
-
If the emergency happens after interacting with the deku tree goddess statue, then whoever is in the lead at that point wins.
-
If the race is in-between the plateau and the final split when an emergency occurs, please notify a tournament organizer and we will see how to proceed.
-
In any instance, the player with the emergency has the option to forfeit the match.
-
While watching racetime during the countdown before the start of the race, make sure to wait for the timer to hit 0.00 before hitting “New game”, rather than starting on -0.99
Restream Information
Stream settings
In order for the restreamers to deliver the best quality, please do not exceed these stream settings while being restreamed.
-
720p, 30 fps, and 2200-2500 Kbps
-
720p, 60 fps, and 3200-3500 Kbps
-
1080p, 30 fps, and 3000-3300 Kbps
Please do not stream at 1080p 60fps. BotW runs at 900p, 30fps. Streaming at higher qualities does nothing for a game feed visually, and may actively hurt the restream and volunteers if it exceeds the recommended suggestions.
